One of the problems with travelling and trying to keep a site updated with content is finding the pc’s and time to do it. Something I seem to have failed in to some extent some far.
Anyway, since the last post in Taupo I spent two weeks back on Waiheke Island. It was supposed to be one week but at the end of the week I was having such a good time relaxing and enjoying the company in the hostel I cancelled my flight to Sydney and re-booked for a week later. I would have stayed longer but I had tickets for U2 in Sydney on 13th November and wasn’t going to miss them. As it was I only had a few hours from landing to check into my hostel, pick my tickets up and get to the venue. Fantastic gig, even with some of Bono’s preaching. Something you do get caught up in when at the gig.
Since then i’ve been in Sydney just enjoying being here. It’s nice to know somewhere so well you don’t feel like a tourist. While I was staying in the suburb of Glebe there was a street festival which featured a number of new bands. Special mentions to the awesome King Farook and Fuji Collective. Both have albums coming out about now so be sure to check them out. Why doesn’t the good Aussie music make it into europe?
Next week is the Xmas and New Years Week. A number of BBQ’s and drinking sessions coming up, as well as the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race for the Christmas period. NYE is a 6 hours cruise on Sydney Harbour to see in the New Year and watch the fireworks. The bar is all you can drink, so how much I remember of the fireworks is anyones guess!
The photos are mostly up to date. There’s a few missing from New Zealand but i’ll have them up soon and there’s a new Sydney Gallery for 2006.
On the 29th of December I leave the city center to stay in the Blue Mountains for a few days, though i’ll be back for NYE. After that its back to the city for January before moving on. Possibly to Uluru and the Ayers Rock resort for a few days. But for now Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!.
