I’ve added a few photos to the Leicestershire Gallery from earlier today. It was a misty morning and the Grand Prix on TV was a little boring so thought i’d go for a walk to the nearby lake to see what photos I could get in the mist. I’ve also started playing about with some of the images after they were taken to see kind of effects can be produced, a couple of these mixed results are among todays photos.

Version 2.0.1 of the Gallery software used on gonewalkabout.info has been released! There are no new features, but it fixes a security flaw present on versions prior to this release.

It is recommended that you Upgrade Now if you are using gallery2 on your website. Thankfully they’ve made upgrading as simple as possible and details of how to upgrade are avaliable in the upgrade page!

In the UK the Disasters Emergency Committee has launched an appeal for those affected by the Earthquake in South Asia earlier in the week. If you are able to donate to the appeal head over to the DEC website now!

For those outside the UK there is the International Red Cross website.

I’ve been playing with a couple of google applications for a while now, Google Earth and Google Maps and kept thinking of ways to integrate them into the site to either see a map for where a photo was taken, or look at a map and see a photo from that place.

Google have had the option to integrate Google Maps within websites for a while now, and while looking at how to create a photo map for the gallery I stumbled across a gallery2 module that was being produced to do just that.

So after installing that and pulling my hair out for a while to fix an issue that Internet Explorer has with some instances of integrating the maps on websites the outcome is the Photo Map page. Just click on a green or red icon to see photos from that area!

The website of the module ’s author can be found at severinghaus.org.
